About Us.

The Coonamble Angus Stud is a family-owned and operated seed stock and commercial cattle enterprise located 10km from Bremer Bay on the South Coast of Western Australia, approximately 500km southeast of Perth.

The Davis Family runs the herd under commercial conditions, prioritising larger-framed cattle with a focus on growth, temperament, and sound structure.

The Coonamble & Cavadalla properties that are home to the Coonamble Angus herd consist of 2000 hectares of arable land 6km from the Southern Ocean. The soil types are largely sand and sandy gravels with a section of heavier country at the northern end of the holding. Kikuyu plays its roll to stablilise the very light country with the remaining pastures composed of annual ryegrass and clovers.

Coonamble currently maintains a herd of 450 registered breeders, alongside a commercial herd of 500 that also serves as recipient cows. Historically, calving primarily occurred in autumn, and embryo programs were implemented for both autumn and spring calving. However, following a series of record-breaking dry autumn/winter periods in 2018, 19, and 20, a decision was made to shift the major drop to spring. This adjustment aims to better align with the bulk feed period and reduce the need for hand feeding.

All bulls remain on the farm until the sale, which takes place at Coonamble's on-farm sale complex in February, combining autumn and spring drops at approximately 22 months and 18 months, respectively. Bulls sold within 1000km of the property are personally delivered by Coonamble.
