Breeding Philosophy.

The focus at Coonamble Angus for over five decades has been built around the cow herd. Throughout this period, the cow herd has evolved to its present state, guided by the following key principles:

sound structure

docile

gets back in calf yearly under commercial conditions

calves easily

milks well from a well-made udder

medium to large framed

These fundamentals have been the cornerstone of our approach. While performance recording has been conducted since 1981, we primarily use it as a guide. Our focus remains on a well-balanced animal, and we are cautious not to place too much emphasis on individual traits to the detriment of others. It's this balance that we believe has contributed to the greatness of the Angus cow in our breeding program.

Embryo Transfer.

ET programs at Coonamble Angus have been conducted since 1987 by Dr. Richard Hall. The numbers have steadily increased since 2009, reaching around 150 ET calves expected in 2023. This figure is anticipated to grow further to approximately 200 annually.
